Lockpicking Guide 1-400
Lockpicking Profession is ONLY for Rogue . Lockpicking is a very beneficial ability to have. During your time as a rogue you are going to find locked chests in instances, locked boxes dropping off mobs, or locked doors that could reward you with access to great loot to sell on the auction house.

Lockpicking level 1-70
For this guide 1-70 will be done solely on the first chest you are sent to when you first learn lockpicking. There are some alternatives to this route but it is not recommended you use them. To complete this section of the guide you must be level 14 otherwise you will not be able to get your skill to 70. Please note you can get your skill to 100 off of these chests if you wish.
Buccaneer's Strongbox-These chests located on a ship near Rachet in The Barrens.
Burial Chest - Blood Elves can try this one
Alternatives
Engineering - Practice Lock (1-80)
Pick Pocket - Battered Junkbox (1-100)
Fishing - Small Locked Chest
Ground Spawn (Blood Elves) - Primitive Chest ( http://www.wowhead.com/?object=184793 )
Lockpicking level 71-170
The next section of this guide 70-170 will be primarily for a chest that is part of the Poison Quest that every Rogue receives at level 20. You will most likely need help to do the quest at level 20 or you can wait till level 24-28 when it will become substantially easier to do the quest. If you want to level lockpicking without using the poison quest chest, see the alternatives listed below. Remember that you
will most likely have to click on your Pick Lock skill from the general tab and then click the chest afterward (works best if you just pull the Pick Lock skill onto your hotbar)
Gallywix's Lockbox - The Barrens
Alternatives
Ground Spawn - Waterlogged Footlocker (70-150) ( http://www.wowhead.com/?object=179487 )
Ground Spawn - Battered Footlocker (70-120+) ( http://www.wowhead.com/?object=179486 )
Ground Spawn - Battered Footlocker (110-175) ( http://www.wowhead.com/?object=179488 )
Pick Pocket - Work Junkbox (75-170)
Fishing - Sturdy Locked Chest
Lockpicking level 171-225
For this section of the guide you will get to choose your lockpicking preference via zone. The Badlands is the most popular choice because it is not under water like the Desolace section. The battered footlocker in Badlands is found upstairs in Angor Fortress while the Dented Footlocker you will find downstairs.
Badlands
Ground Spawn - Battered Footlocker (150-200) ( http://www.wowhead.com/?object=179490 )
Ground Spawn - Dented Footlocker (175-225) ( http://www.wowhead.com/?object=179492 )
Desolace
Ground Spawn - Waterlogged Footlocker (150-200)
Ground Spawn - Mossy Footlocker (175-225)
Alternatives
Pick Pocket - Sturdy Junkbox
Fishing - Ironbound Locked Chest
Door - Scarlet Monastery Doors (175-225)
Lockpicking level 226-250
There are two zones again where ground spawns are the best choice to level from 226-250. Don't forget to pick pocket any humanoids in these areas because they have a chance to give you a Heavy Junkbox.
Azshara
Ground Spawn - Mossy Footlocker
Tanaris
Ground Spawn - Dented Footlocker
Alternatives
Pick Pocket - Sturdy Junkbox
Lockpicking level 251-300
For 251-300 you can pick which lockpicking preference you like. I suggest you do ground spawns because you can pick pocket mobs at the same time but you can do Doors in this section if you want.
Eastern Plaguelands
Ground Spawn - Scarlet Footlocker
Alternatives
Pick Pocket - Heavy Junkbox
Door - Blackrock Depths Doors
Lockpicking level 301-350
Sticking to ground spawns once again you can finish out your journey to 350 on Wicker Chests in Zangarmarsh or you can select one of the alternative routes for fun.
